Big Success in 2019
It's been an awesome few months here at the Law Office of James L. Spies!
October - I appeared on two separate local news broadcasts to discuss the Wyandotte County District Attorney's poor handling of the Captain Melton capital murder case.
November - My client was found NOT GUILTY of Murder in the First Degree in Wyandotte County District Court. The State charged him with seven separate crimes. The jury acquitted him of all seven!
December - In Shawnee County District Court a jury convicted my client of the lesser included offense of Murder in the Second Degree. The State charged him with Murder in the First Degree - Premeditated. Now, instead of facing a Hard-50 life sentence he will receive a grid sentence and he will know when he will get released from prison.
February - Every case is important, and I had my very first felony DUI jury trial in Wyandotte Count District Court. Wait for it.... that's right, another acquittal!
February again - I convinced the Shawnee County District Attorney's office to DISMISS a murder case pending against my client. The State charged him with Murder in the First Degree - Premeditated. Our defense was so strong the State dismissed the case rather than proceed to trial as scheduled in March.
March - Yet another murder trial scheduled to begin later this month in Shawnee County District Court. Wish me well, and check back soon for results.
